NAWLA is an international trade association with over 650 companies representing the forest products and building products industries. They present a carving of a Bald Eagle as a yearly award ( The Mulrooney Award ) to an individual who has provided outstanding service to the forest products industry and to the community at large. Several years ago I was asked to carve a 1/3 sized flying bald eagle for their Mulrooney Award. This award is named ofter John L. Mulrooney who served NAWLA for twenty years as executive vice prisident and was essential in turning NAWLA to a viable and potent force in the lumber industry. The Mulrooney award has become the most prestigious award in the building products industry.
Every year I collaborate with members of the board to design a new stye for the carving. Once the design is agreed upon, I draw up the plans and start carving. The award in presented at NAWLA's spring executive meeting and becomes the property of the recipient.
Below are several pictures of the eagles that I have carved for the award.
